It is an exciting time in the mediation world! More and more people are seeking mediation to help them through challenging life-transitions and more professionals are seeking specialized training to enhance their conflict-resolution skills. As exciting is the growing recognition that facilitations and meditations can help families-in-transition plan and prepare for the future so that potential conflict can be avoided.
Resa S. Eisen has been in the field of mediation, providing services and developing programs for clients in the public and private sectors, for more than 35 years. Her mediation practice has focussed on family law, workplace issues, and now elder and family conflicts. She was appointed the first non-lawyer mediator for the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario, and has taught at the university and organizational level, including designing The Settlement Conference Program for Legal Aid Ontario, which was delivered province-wide. Resa has currently designed the Elder Mediation Training Program (EMTP), the first of its kind in Canada, and provides Elder Mediation workshops across the country.
In addition to her mediation practice, Resa maintains her clinical practice as a marriage and family therapist. She is a certified member of the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers, and holds the designation of Approved Supervisor in the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy.
Resa is an Accredited Member of Family Mediation Canada, the Ontario Association of Family Mediation and a Mediator Member and Board Director of the ADR Institute of Ontario. She is currently a member of the Elder Section of the Association for Conflict Resolution, working on the committee for Training Standards and Objectives in Elder Mediation and Mediation in Long-term Care Settings. She holds membership in the Ontario and Canadian Associations of Gerontology, the National Initiative for the Care of the Elderly (NICE) and the Canadian Association for Retired Persons (CARP).
